Barely out of the rookery himself, this young one, born in the United States, but steeped like good green tea in Asian tradition, clings to the "elder principle" and thus cherishes those far beyond him in time of life. To read him is to see penguins dancing the rite of love. To reflect on his poems afterward is, also like green tea following a delicious meal, a tonic to the (spiritual) digestion.

LOVE
Hear me
Listen to me
For just one moment.

Stop this madness
Pain welling inside me
The despair that courses through me.

I know you love him
I know you care for him
I know that deeply.

But do you know me
Do you know my passion
Do you understand my pain?

I've loved you like no other
I care for you as I have no other
I long for your presence.

My words have no hidden message
My feelings have no protection
My soul is in your hands.

What more can I say?
What more can I do.
But show you that I really do

Love you.

About the next work, the Penguin says: "Just a note of warning to any and all who may be interested in reading further. The following poem might be interpreted as saddening. Sadly enough, the theme behind it is saddening, as is the theme behind most of my poetry. However, it is, as is most of my poetry, a plea. Read on, if you so desire. Here's to you and to yours for a splendid New Year's (1998/99).
NEW YEAR'S DESIRE

Another new year
Another new day
Another new life
Begins the wrong way.

Alone for the year
Alone for the time
Alone with noone
Not a one is mine.

But fret not for I'll find
That one that makes me whole
That special one who cares
That one that fills my soul.

I wander the streets
Dodging cars speeding by
I wonder in my mind
Can I find him tonight?

If I find him he shall be
The one I spend my New Year's with
My love for him will always be
A prolonged and generous gift.

He will give to me
That which I desire
He shall be the only
Kindling for my fire.

You sir, you there.
Yes, I speak to you.
Hear me out and hear me now
Do you yearn the year that is new?
Do you love one who loves you?
Do you have one to spend the time?
Do you know the one who fills your soul
If not, perhaps you'll be mine.
