Several of you are sending the new List Profile to ME instead of to the list. All such have been deleted. I have taken the time to answer each one and tell them about it, but no more. It states clearly in my posting and in the Welcome Message that you have to send it to silverfoxesclub@queernet.org

THAT should be obvious.

JOKE: The Frog

Once upon a time there was a frog who lived in a lake all by himself. He had been given magical powers by a local witch.

One day, he ventured out of the lake to get his first glimpse of the world outside.

The first thing he saw was a bear chasing a rabbit, so he called out to them and asked them to stop.

Then he said to them, "I am a magic frog and since you are the first two animals I have ever seen, I am going to grant you both three wishes. You will each take turns using them and you have to use them now."

The bear (being greedy) went first. "I would like for every bear in this forest to be female except for me."

A magical sound and it was done.

Then the rabbit said, "I would like a helmet."

This confused both the frog and the bear, but after a magical sound, there was a helmet.

It was the bear's turn again. "I would like for every bear in the neighboring forest to be female."

A magical sound and it was done.

The rabbit went again. "I would like a motorcycle."

Both the frog and the bear wondered why the rabbit didn't just ask for a lot of money and then he could buy himself a motorcycle, but after a magical sound there was a motorcycle.

The bear took his last wish. "I would like for all the bears in the world to be female except for me." A magical sound and it was done.

The rabbit then put on his helmet, started up the motorcycle and said, "I wish the bear was gay!" and took off like a bat out of hell!

Subject: Gay-baiting in congressional races

Ben Boxer says: The plot thickens as the national election draws near. The time of true excess is at hand, which is for me (Hee hee!) the only time the elections get really interesting. This is a good year to think about voting. Much hangs in the balance. I don't think it makes any difference whether the new President is a Democrat or a Republican. The difference will lie in the Congressional mix and who leads them in both the Senate and the House. For the past eight years, my feeling toward Congress has been Shakespearean -- "a plague on both your houses," exacerbated by Clinton's scandalous personal behavior. Of course, he's no guiltier than the Congress. He's a man who can't keep his fly zipped up, and our solons and congressmen can't either, lest we forget the scandals inside the Beltway.

Headline:
GOP, far right start gay-baiting in several congressional races
(The Advocate, 10/24/00)

Text:
The Republican Party and several religious right groups are starting to play the .gay card. in various congressional races across the country. With the general election only two weeks away, voters in California, Kentucky, and Utah are receiving fliers and hearing advertisements linking local Democratic candidates with a .homosexual agenda..

The Traditional Values Coalition has targeted Armenian-American voters in California.s 27th congressional district with a mailing calling Republican representative James E. Rogan.s Democratic rival, state senator Adam Schiff, .a champion of the homosexual agenda,. the Los Angeles Times reports. Printed in both Armenian and English, the mailer says Schiff .is in favor of same-sex marriages. because he did not support Proposition 22, a successful March ballot measure that bans recognition of same-sex marriage in California.

The mailer also cites contributions to Schiff by the national gay rights lobby group Human Rights Campaign. TVC leader the Rev. Lou Sheldon said that family and Christian values are important to many Armenian-Americans and that his group is just informing them that Schiff .just isn.t with them..

The Anaheim, Calif..based TVC is sending a similar mailing to voters in Kentucky.s third congressional district, where Democrat Eleanor Jordan--one of a handful of state legislators who opposed an anti.gay-marriage bill in 1998--is challenging Republican representative Anne Northrup. The fliers ask, .Eleanor Jordan supports same-sex marriages. Do you?.

Meanwhile, the National Republican Congressional Committee is running an ad in Utah identifying Democrat Jim Matheson as being supported by the .Human Rights Campaign Fund PAC. and openly gay representative Barney Frank (D-Mass.), The Washington Post reports. In the ad the announcer asks, .Will the Boy Scouts be forced to accept homosexual leaders?.

The independent Republican Majority Issues Committee is also weighing in on the race, in which Matheson is the favorite against GOP businessman Derek Smith to succeed Republican representative Merrill Cook. In the RMIC ad an announcer says, .Jim Matheson has taken thousands of dollars from groups whose goals are different from most Utahans, including people who promote same-sex marriage..
