Partnership Bill In UK Parliament This Fall
(July 10, London) A Liberal Democrat peer will introduce a Civil Partnership
Bill in the House of Lords after the summer recess.
Lord Lester said the private members' bill would provide a civil partnership
register similar to those already in place in France and Germany.
Lord Lester, a long time supporter of British gay rights group Stonewall,
said it should be guaranteed at least two readings in the Lords. But,
private members' bills seldom pass without the support of the government.
Even if passed by the Lords it would need approval of the House of Commons.
Stonewall is urging supporters to write to prime minister Tony Blair calling
for a change in the law and are planning a series of legal actions using the
Human Rights Act on issues related to the recognition of same-sex couples.
Earlier this month London mayor Ken Livingstone said his partners registry
office would open September 5.
Could anyone explain to me the orgin of denoting the male
genitals as the family jewels. Would appreciate any elucidation on the
matter. Most important because they are the only means of continuing the Family name.Hence the importance.And the reference to "Jewel" A Mans testicles are more important than the family Tiara. Shakespeare has a reference.But he tended to refer to Chastity in the maidenhead "that chaste treasure which is female married virtue" ie her Jewel.
