I have put up a page at the Silverfoxes Clubhouse which will enable you to better understand the meaning of the Lunar New Year. As you know by now, the Year of the Snake begins today, Jan 24. If you would like to know your own animal sign, the Clubhouse page will tell you. Enjoy! And as many Chinese say, "gong xi fa cai" ("Happy and Prosperous New Year")

Please, can someone tell me what my lunar calendar animal is? I was born on December 1, 1949. Thanks! I hope it's not the cock!

Bob and Harley
=============
Ben Boxer figured it out: Well, Bob, it says that you were born in the Year of the Ox which is a great honor when you consider that the great Paul Bunyan had a powerful ox named Babe. Of course, it might be more interesting if you had been born in a Year of the Dog, but the closest one was 1946, and that would make you three years older! Just remember that ox tails are might tasty, so don't get into a stew! Hee hee! Harley is your eternal Year of the Dog, and so am I, and that is interesting enough for me!

Well, sweet Ben, don't care for ox tails, but I do like being born in the year of the ox, so that is just fine! Thanks for figuring it out for me!

Hugs,
Bob and Harley, the eternal dog

Dearest Bob,

You, my friend, are an Oxen. Oxen are born leaders, inspiring confidence in everyone they come into contact with. However, they can be too demanding. Methodical and good with their hands, they make fine surgeons and hairdressers. Famous people born in the Year Of The Ox: Jack Lemmon, Tony Benn, Charlie Drake, Shirley Bassey, Jack Nicholson Bob, have you ever fancied yourself a surgeon or hairdreser? I believe at this point were testing Harleys skills. Perhaps he might need more training than is just. I hate to see him doing somebodys hair... It just doesnt seem right.

Love you brother,

Subject: wrinkle bar?

Ben and group,
As to "wrinkle bar" I remember back in the dark ages around the time of Stonewall when one of my favorite bars was affectionately known as "The Wrinkle Room" in Detroit. The Circa 1890 nee The Blue Crest. Now at the time I was just of legal age but went there to find my brother when I was in the process of coming out. He met his lover of 34 years there so it must have had something going for it. If people have problems with wrinkles I suggest they do what I do, every time they see a wrinkle put on five pounds to fill the bugger in. hehe. I'm really an 85 pound prune.

Ben and the Group, Having moved to the Motor City only in 1986, I am wondering if this place might now be called "The Woodward?" On Woodward Avenue near GM headquarters? Club Dory in SF had the same reputation....

Hi Ben,

Many thanks for the Birthday Wishes. It was so nice to receive that from a cute silver fox chub!!!! Unfortunately I didn't spend my birthday at the City of Quebec (now know as 'The Quebec') as it is just that bit too far to drive when one has work the next day. Besides, I was there at the weekend and had fun with all my friends (young and old). So it was to an empty bed I went on my Birthday night with dreams of cute silver fox chubbies :-)))) For those who don't know 'The Quebec', it is Londons premier silver fox pub, and as Pewit mentioned in an earlier mail it is probably one of the best of it's type in Europe. Very busy at the weekends with a crowd of all ages leaning more towards silver foxes. It's my regular haunt at weekends and well worth checking out if you are a silver fox or foxhunter. A little short on the big, chubby silver foxes for my liking but then us Brits need to eat a bit more! It is situated on Old Quebec Street, just off Oxford Street and round the corner from Marble Arch tube station. If any list members are in the area then check it out. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Anyway, no exciting news of my birthday to report to the list other than I am still single and still hoping! Thought of inviting Helmut Kohl and Ed Asner to my birthday but reckoned that they may be a little to busy to attend. Had a nice dream about them anyway! Once again Ben, thanks for thinking of me on my birthday. It is much appreciated. Long live the silver foxes list!

Hugs, Chas

Just a wish for all the Australian members of the list to have a great holiday and a reminder to not eat to much at the barbie. Wish I was there.

Subject: Happy Australia Day!

It's midnight the 24th of January in California, but in just a few hours it will be January 26 already in Australia as that great continent celebrates Australia Day. Attached is a shot of two native Aussies (not Aboriginal in the classic sense, but classically Australian all the same) enjoying the holiday in an especially festive, if not classy, manner. The only other country in the world which celebrates a national holiday on January 26 is India, where 32,000,000 people ritually bathed in the Ganges River, and another 38,000,000 are expected on the holiday itself.
